Car Parking and Approach

• A large, secure car park (CCTV and barrier control) on-site for 200 vehicles. Parking is free to all Burleigh Court guests
• Nine designated accessible parking spaces - five at the main front entrance and four at the side entrance (all are within 25 metres of main entrances to the building)
• Traffic-calming measures in the car park and across the campus
• A covered drop off point at the main entrance/reception area
• Luggage assistance available on request
• The approach to the front and side entrance is a level access
• The exterior approach to Burleigh Springs Leisure Club is via a ramp with level landings and is accompanied by a set of steps designed to 'ambulant disabled' standards. However, Burleigh Springs can be accessed through the main entrance where there are no steps
• The main and leisure club entrances have powered automatic doors

Reception

• A lowered section at the reception desk for enquiries and registration
• A seating area in the main reception area and the floor is level throughout
• The lobby and main corridor has a hard, slip-resistant floor and is well lit
• An accessible unisex toilet in reception

Bedrooms

• 13 accessible bedrooms out of a total of 225
• Seven of the accessible bedrooms have level entry showers and four have baths (left and right hand versions)
• Four of the accessible rooms have adjoining doors to another bedroom for the use of guests who need to have a carer nearby
• All 13 accessible rooms have alarms/pull cords for use in case of emergency The alarms are linked to a 24-hour staffed reception
• All 13 rooms have 'big button' hands free telephones. These 'phones have speech amplification and are hearing aid compatible
• Vibrating pillows which can be plugged into the fire alarm system are available from reception on request
• On request a list of hire services for hoists/bed blocks can be provided
• Seven of the accessible bedrooms have power assisted door operators
• Under pillow vibrating pads and talking alarm clocks are available from reception
• All 225 bedrooms have TV's with subtitles/teletext
• 24-hour room service is available

Public areas

• Three accessible unisex toilets in the public areas of the building
• A 'talking' lift with full length mirrors giving access to the three accessible bedrooms on the first floor
• All signage meets the appropriate requirements with regard to visibility and legibility
• All doors, entrances and corridors are wide enough for wheelchairs, zimmer frames and pushchairs
• All corridors are well lit and level throughout ground floor areas
• All meeting rooms have a hearing loop system installed and variable seating arrangements

Restaurant, Bar and Lounge

• The restaurant, bar and lounge areas are all located on the ground floor and are level throughout
• Chefs are able to provide for any special dietary requirements
• Menus are available in large print format or alternatively staff can talk through the choice of dishes on offer
• There is a range of seating areas away from noise or congestion
• All areas are spacious with a variety of seating arrangements
• There is a lowered area at the coffee machines for wheelchair users

Emergency Evacuation Procedures

• The three accessible bedrooms on the first floor are located close to escape stairs, each with a refuge point
• All exits on the ground floor have level thresholds
• Assistance in the event of an evacuation is available if advanced arrangements are made with reception

Other

• There is a 'free run' area for assistance dogs
